Women’s Self Defense Class

The Course Objectives:
- Familiarize women with current national and local statistics of violence and crime related to women.
- To teach useful ways that women can be situationally aware and set boundaries regarding situations with higher threat levels.
- To train women to be able to demonstrate the ability to perform escalation and de-escalation techniques utilizing verbal and physical skills and tools to their disposal, including but not limited to, verbalization, empty hand techniques, counter joint leverage, intermediate weapons, and the ability to utilize all learned skills in a variety of situations.
Evaluations: Participants of the class will be walked through all techniques and able to practice through repetition of each technique as time permits. There will no physical or written test for this class, nor any certification offered.
What to Bring: Your confidence! Please wear athletic attire and gym shoes (not hard toed shoes, boots, belts or dangling jewelry). This is a physical (hands on training) and participation is required in order to learn the techniques AND to build your confidence. If you have physical limitations please email prior to signing up for the class to see if your needs can be accommodated during this training session. Water and light snacks will be provided.
About the Instructor, Jamie Fellows: He worked at Belknap County Department of Corrections for 10 years, where he developed and wrote the defensive tactic lesson plans for Belknap County Corrections and the NH County Corrections Academy. For the past six years, Jamie has served full-time with the Alton Police Department. Jamie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge. He has taught defensive tactics for Corrections, Police, swat, women and church security for over 16 years.
